Butterfly Solstice

Butterfly Solstice is a long-term, New Adult (NA) comic series I am developing set in an alternative-modern magical world. This page showcases the character designs of the protagonist, antagonist, secondary and tertiary characters, as well as four sample pages of the comic.

The goal of this project was to create a graphic novel pitch based on a story that was previously developed in DESN2211 Visual Narrative, refining and updating the characters and plot into a more cohesive narrative. A graphic novel format was chosen to express the complex story sections visually and in full colour, highlighting the aesthetic of the world and characters in it.

The project heavily drew on the original concept as a foundation, while current fantasy novels and games influenced character designs and the magic system in the updated version. The final product meets the brief by presenting clear and creative character designs and detailed examples of page layouts with dialogue.
